Chapter 1
Chapter 1A
Ten years ago King Overgrowth's minions are attacking Maritime Place in Willows Bay. One of the Scarecrows is about to attack a young girl—Paige—but she's rescued by Red Zinnia of the Garden Guardians. Paige decides that when she grows up she's going to be just like Red Zinnia.
Chapter 1B
In the present day Paige is now 14 years old and a student at Willows Bay Secondary School, along with her friends Marcy and Ada. While stopping for juice on their way home from school one afternoon, a monstrous bug-like creature attacks Maritime Place. They run into Pollen, who entrusts them with the Flower Fairies and they transform into Garden Guardians.
After clumsily defeating the monster, they're approached by Florentina Fullbloom, who explains that she needs their help recovering the Flower Fairies that were stolen by King Overgrowth.
After Florentina leaves, a woman appears and reveals she knows they are the Garden Guardians, and offers to help them. Marcy and Ada are confused by this, but Paige recognises the woman as her hero—none other than Red Zinnia herself.
Chapter 1C
The Garden Guardians argue over which of them Pollen will stay with, eventually deciding that none of them want to take him and leaving him with Natsu.
